Thailand Events Calendar – December 2017

December is the month of some great festivals and celebrations in Thailand; Father’s Day, Phuket King’s Cup Regatta, Jasmine Rice Festival, Pattaya Countdown and many more. These festivals let visitors experience Thailand differently through numerous festive celebrations in December and throughout the 12-month calendar.

December 2017 – Event Calendar

1-10 December 2017
Rama IX Park Flower Festival
Where : King Rama IX Park, Bangkok
Watch exhibition in the honor of the King and Queen at Ratchamongkol Hall, held by Office of the Royal Development Projects Boards. Enjoy the beautifully arranged park and the vertical park near the botanical garden island 3, including gardening tools and other goods.

The 16th Nimmanhaemin Art and Design Promenade
Where : Nimmanhaemin Road Soi 1, Chiang Mai
Enjoy shopping for local Food, local product, handmande product and take a walk through Home Decoration Fair.

Father’s Day
Where : Sanam Luang, Bangkok and nationwide
One of the biggest celebrations held in Thailand, homes and public structures all over the nation is elaborately decorated with flags. People throughout the country are gathered to do public service, making merits, light candles and wish His Majesty a long prosperous life.

Phuket King’s Cup Regatta
Where : Kata Beach, Phuket
A globally renowned international sporting events,  big oceangoing boats and multi-hull vessels from all over the world come to Phuket to join this legendary race.

9 – 10 December 2017
Huay Ka Kang World Heritage Day Festival
Where : Amphoe Baan Rai Administration Office, Uthai Thani
Take part in Marathon running event, watch Miss World Heritage contest and Modern Thai Folk Music.

9 – 13 December 2017
Koh Phangan Color Moon Festival 2017
Where : Ao Thong Sala, Amphoe Koh Phangan, Surat Thani
The festival features Beach Party Fashion, a fashion show of garment made of Pha-mud-yom, Pha-mud-yom is Pha-ngan traditional way of making colorful fabric. There are also Body Painting and Tattoo, Bartender Competition, Fire baton juggling show, Boxing and other entertaining show during the night.

9 – 13 December 2017
Jasmine Rice Festival and Annual Red Cross Society Fair
Where : Field in front of Chumphon Buri Chumphon Buri Administration Office, Amphoe Chumphon Buri, Surin
Watch spectacular carriages parade decorated with jasmine rice, traditional dances, Eel catching competition in Men team, Women team and international team, The biggest-longest eel competition, Jasmine rice competition.

25- 31 December 2017
Chiang Mai Countdown
Where : Tha Phae Gate, Amphoe Muang, Chiangmai
Performances on stages, Contemporary Music Performances, Cultural performances, Fireworks and Firecrackers show, Countdown to the New Year.

Khon Kaen Countdown 2018
Where : City Gate, Amphoe Muang, Khon Kaen
Celebrate New Year at Khon Kaen City gate, which is beautifully decorated with lights. There are also music shows at the event.

28 December  2017 – 2 January 2018
Blooming Cherry Blossom and Tribal food festival at Doi Mae Salong
Where : Ban Santi Khiri, Amphoe Mae Fah Luang, Chiang Rai
Taste Mae Salong’s tea, See Cherry Blossom, Tribal cultural performances. Local product show case and trade fair.

30 – 31 December 2017
Night Paradise Hatyai Countdown
Where : Niphat Uthit 3 Rd., Thammanoonwithi Rd. , Amphoe Hat Yai, Songkhla.
At Hat Yai Countdown, as you wait for the new year to start, there are stage performances for you to enjoy and plenty of stalls to shop from.

30 – 31 December 2017
Mae Hong Son International New year 2018
Where : Nong Chong Kham Park, Amphoe Muang, Mae Hong Son
Watch cultural Performances and Local product show case from various tribes, such as Karen, Mhong, Moo-ser, Leesor, Tai Yai, Pa-o, Lua and Yunnan. Celebrating New Year with fireworks. In the morning, there will be 99 monks alms giving ceremony.

31 December  2017-1 January 2018
New Year Merit, giving light to Nakhon Sri Thammarat Festival
Where : Wat Phra Mahathat,Nakhon Sri Thammarat
On this first day of the year, the weather can be a bit chilly, so Buddhists gather to serve hot dessert and light fire for monks. The ceremony is held at the temple’s square.

Mae Sai New Year festival (3 Kingdoms Countdown 2018)
Where : Dan Sai Border in Mae Sai,Amphoe Mae Sai, Chiang Rai
Countdown to the New Year in Mae Sai, celebrating with fireworks to welcome the year of 2018.

31 December 2017 – January 1, 2018
Mon Bridge New Year
Where : Mon Bridge, Amphoe Sangkhlaburi, Karnchanaburi
Apart from shopping various local products and watching 4 ethnics tradition performances, you’ll get to see fireworks and floating lantern releasing ceremony. The main highlight of this event is giving alms to monks on Mon bridge, which is Thailand’s longest wooden bridge and the second longest in the world.

31 December 2017 – January 1, 2018
Pattaya New Year Celebration
Where : Bali Hai Cape in Pattaya, Chonburi
Pattaya countdown, live performances from famous artists, fireworks show.
